Hi guys,

This is the Graphics problem that I experience with CFS3 - strange black lines or triangles emanating from centre screen out to certain objects. It'll suddenly happen at any time during flight, or not at all. Sometimes there's only one line, sometimes they cover the screen. I have the latest drivers, used driver cleaner etc. Do you think I have a faulty graphics card?

Here's a better or worse picture, depending on your terms of reference.

...

Anybody else ever have this?

And this is how the once-beautiful Korean Terrain can look, when something horrible kicks-in.

Indeed, newer drivers are your issue.

I'm currently running CFS3 with a Geforce 6800GT and 81.95 drivers.

Thanks guys. I'll try the 81.95. My hard-drive is failing at the moment, so once that's replaced I'll fix the graphic card.
The weird part was that these graphic glitches don't show on CFS2 or Strike Fighters, and only rarely on Pacific Fighters - but we shouldn't mention those things here, should we?

Hey, if its Flight Sim, lets hear it! - we can always take the p#ss afterwards.....  Grin

I found similar things with my previous 6800LE and my current GT, earlier games such as CFS2 run without a hitch @ silly settings (everything maxxed & 8xAA, 16xAF etc) yet the more recent stuff such as CFS3 to a degree and certainly Battlefield 2 seem extremely driver sensitive.

Ho hum, I've never yet found a perfect graphics driver, the quest continues.  Wink

Good drivers & bad CFS3 config settings will also produce the same effects.

...

BTW I use 43.51 drivers on my FX-5600 as anything newer will give me pie slices and other visual problems.

Gosh you're right, Bear. Those black patches on the aircraft look really scary. Luckily I haven't had that yet.

Thanks for all the advice guys. The most important thing is knowing I'm not alone with this.

I'm using 81.95 now, and I still get the usual graphic problems with CFS3. I use the global driver settings for the 6800GT, and in CFS3 I have started trying out all those dual pass render settings again in different configurations.
Hopefully I'll get the 6800 glitch free eventually, and then I can list all the settings that work.
Of course, if anyone has already done this, then I'd like to know.  Or did everyone pack CFS3 in and go to PACIFIC FIGHTERS which has it's own settings in the GeForce window, and works beautifully. Shame Microsoft didn't co-operate in the same way with CFS3.

Okay, so this is really spooky now. I've fiddled around with the CFS3 settings as advised by various publications, and let the Geforce go back to global settings.
I was running a few quick tests in Free Flight when I got the black lines coming at me from centre screen in the cockpit. If you pan your head around, the lines always come from centre screen.
If you go to outside view, they vanished; if you used HUD only, they vanished; it was only the cockpit view that had the fault.
I left the aircraft, and tried it with another aircraft, result: no lines. I went back to the same aircraft, result: lines. So I then tried this with several different aircraft, and all results were different. The native CFS aircraft and the JF Memphis Belle were fine; but the FIREPOWER B-17, Lancaster and B-29 were not;and nor was the AVHistory B-17 beta.
So it appears as if there's some difference in the way the cockpits are created by these different developers that doesn't like my current set-up. I just need to find out what that is now.
The good result from all this is that the lines only appear in cockpit view, so I can fly these other aircraft in HUD only, problem free.
