Thanks for the idea: However we try to discourage Polls unless they have a specific reason to be - such as voting for screenshots or a list that can be comprehensive such as a list of air battle games.
Also this is just a tiny selection of airliners - missing out so many & therefore of little value.

...and following on from Pete, if you look further down on this page or on the next two or three (and the real aviation section) you'll probably find another two or three "what's your favourite airliner?" threads...

I dont think you can really just pick a bunch of random airliners. It depends on their purpose. I mean, a 747 cant be compared to a CRJ, they are completely different.

When you are a twelve year old aircraft modeller and you cross the Pacific to Australia, before satellite navigation, and you see the Captain using a sextant, a Boeing 707 seems pretty impressive. (Looking out at those big old Rolls Royce engines, uha haha!)

Actually, from a passenger's point of view, it's not the aircraft in a certain class that matters, but the airline. It's the airline who decides how many or how few seats they'll equip the airliners with that has a bearing on comfort. Also the meals, attentiveness of the flight attendents, on-time record, etc. If a given airline flew both A340's and 767's, the expierence would be pretty much be the same. But if an A340 was flown by two different airlines, that expierence could be dramatically different.

For me it is very difficult to rate an airliner because as a passenger each airline company outfits it aircraft differently - i.e the short haul aircraft like your average 737 is packed to the rafters with seating so there is not enough room to swing a cat - but they're cheap. the long haul aircraft are more roomy and normally have some sort of entertainment, but if they didn't you would die from boredom.
The nicest flight for me was the 10 hour trip to St Lucia on Virgin Airlines in first class and the worst was the flight back from Madeira in a thomas Cook aircraft of some description folded up like a safety pin 'cause of the lack of space

It's not really the aircraft that's important, rather the airline.
If the 'old' Aeroflot operated (for example) the current generation A318 you wouldn't get me on board ....
On the other hand, if QANTAS flew the Tu117 or such I'd be 99.99% certain of not falling out of the sky. 8)
