Hi guys,

I have a rubbish problem.  When I first got my laptop, there were very few processes open when I started my computer.  Now after 3 months of having it, I go into the task manager and there's gotta be like 60-70 processes!  Can someone please tell me why there are so many and how to get rid of them!  It's getting rediculus now cause I only got 512MB ram in a rough deal and a lot of it is getting taken up by the bloody processes!  It's really slowing my computer down.  Does anyone know how I can get rid of a whole lot of the ones that I simply do not need? Or if there is a software utility on the internet somewhere that can clean my process basket for me?

Thanks
Greg

Try a defrag and then a disk cleanup. Also, run AdAware and your virus scanner, then clear out your cookies and internet history.

60 or 70!  It's a wonder you can even boot.  I only have 23 process running now, including firefox, winamp, zonealarm and antivirus.

Get FSAutostart to temporarily kill some of these - any changes you make with FSA will be restored when you reboot.

Then look at Black Viper's Mirror at MajorGeeks to see what you can permanently turn off.
