Hi all

I looked around a bit in this forum, but didn't find what I was looking for. Then again, I may have been looking right at it, only didn't know. Maybe more reading would have given me some answers, yet I thought I would just ask.

In case you haven't guessed yet, I am totally new to doing anything to the sim other than adding airplanes. I'm not new to the series (had 2000 and 2002 and 2004 since its release), I just never tried to create or edit anyting in them before.

So, for a beginner;
What programs are used to edit elevation around an airport and also the airports runways?
This would be for use in FS2004.

I want to play around with terrain edits some, just to learn how things are done. I thought I might try making my local airport area and it's runways more like the real thing. In FS9 the runways are completely flat as well as the land around the airport. I would like to add some hills in the correct places as well as the dips and crest in the runways, if this is possible.

I haven't a clue how to do this or what programs to use for it, if it can even be done ??? But if it can, I would like to start out simple by adjusting the terrian and then later try doing correct looking buildings, roads, etc.

So if anyone knows of tools and tutorials that might help me along, I would be very pleased to hear from you.

Thank you for your time.
Regards
Butch

For the time being, it isn't really possible to make runways be anything but level.  Just an MS overlook in the creation processes of FS. Roll Eyes  But to edit the terrain, you can use things like FSSC (Flight Simulator Scenery Creator), etc.

These will usually get the job done.

Thank you
I will get it and play around with some buildings around the airport. I have read some here on the FSSC. I had a feeling this was the one I needed for some stuff.

Too bad about the runways. Hopefully the next version will be either correct out of the box, or at least can be modded.
