Well, to take me and jimbos mustang vs. lightning to a new level, lets see what you think!  My vote is, of course, the P-38

P-38 versus the P-51, thats a tough one..........

P-51 is a natural fighter aircraft, P-38 is two aircraft joined together,

I'd say the P-38.............. Unless the baron is involved then it would be fun lol........

The P-47 Jug.  Oops sorry that wasn't one of the choices.  I would then have to say the P-38. Nothing against the Mustang but, they just did not take the abuse.  A single bullet into the Allison and/or Merlin could bring it down.  At least with the P-38 you had the two engines.  Now the P-47 Grin

YOU FOOLS ITS NO CONTEST!!!

The merlin engine is better than two allisons.  Six .50's are better than 4 .30's and a 20mm.  The stang was more agile, and was a smaller plane (harder to shoot)

If you want to compare two planes, do the Mustang, and Spitfire.  Now theres a great argument

I love them both equally. But I'm in a P-38 mood, so: P-38. Wink

Given a choice I would pick the P-47 every time, awesome aircraft and my favourite US Warbird, but of the two choices it just has to be the Mustang if for no other reson than it got a propper engine once we got hold of it Wink
