This weekend on Sat 10/8, I was enjoying the Blue Angels
airshow during Fleetweek in San Francisco. As always, it
was a real thrill. It even included an F-16 and then an F-86
joined up with the F-16 for some close formation fly-bys.
Very nice!

After that, and before the Blue Angels showed, another
demonstration team arrived to put on a show. But
they were not listed anywhere in the program. It was
3 aircraft painted in deep blue and gold. Blue Angels
colors, but definitely not the Blue Angels. At first I was
guessing these were the old F-11s the BA used to fly,
but I am certain they weren't. These planes had only
slightly swept wings and wingtip tanks. The aircraft
looked like Aero L-159 ALCAs.  I'm not familiar with this
team. Does anyone out there know who these guys are?
And is my guess of the planes correct?

Wasn't the Breitling display team was it? Sounds a bit far away for them though ???

Yes! Good call! I looked up the Breitling Team and found
some pics. That's them. They really put on a good show.
I wonder why they weren't mentioned. Maybe they were
only scheduled at the last minute. My guess of the plane
type was off. They are flying the Aero L-39 Albatross.
Nice aircraft. Thanks for the assist, Craig.

Don't be hard on yourself. The L-159 is virtually a development of the same airframe, so it wasn't a bad guess! Grin

sorry to spoil your fun........................................................... but it was the patriots at Fleet Week not brietling

they fly over my town frequently and it would make more sense that the local team would display at fleet week.

this would confirm it
