Hi there,

A little thought  just came into my head today about a little hop around the U.K this week sometime?
Possibly using either a Stearman or something of a Vintage era.

Would anyone like to attempt this?

Nemo

EDIT.... This is open to anyone who wants to join in.

Eno i regularly fly low in jets around North of Scotland on Fs9, could be a good choice,

Also looking still at the Vintage/G.A aircraft to fly, but Depends where's chosen i might Be in the Lancaster or seafire just to be different lol.

how about this for a thought, Start Off from Heathrow or Gatwick in a Fighter/bomber formation? and fly to Conningsby or Cottesmore. would sure make for some nice screenshots if it could be pulled off.

Nemo

p.s i'll post the i.p addy for my computer on wednesday, just need to know who's goin to be taking part, its going to be around 7pm - 8 pm in the u.k, just don't ask about the time difference as i'm not too sure,

That sounds good to me!

We just have to make sure everyone has each others aircrafts, so we don't get a Beech King Air 350, in formation with a couple of B29s, that would look seriously odd. Wink

But then again, I wanted to fly WoP B-17 or B-29, and if you guys don't own that, I don't expect you to go out and buy it.

So if we really want some kick-ass screenshots, we have to use freeware aircrafts, all of us.

What do you guys think?

Keep it freeware and easy to find.   Wink  And post the exact plane so that all DO see the correct aircraft and particularly the correct PAINT.

Good idea To post the aircraft that you are going to be using John

This is Most probably the aircraft that i'm going to be flying The Avro Lancaster found here at SimV;
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb.cgi?section=vintage&file=lanc_dam.zip .

Or the B29 also found here at SimV.

Hi all British Sim Pillocks Pilots...Grin...!

As this is a first, encouraging try-out, wouldn't it be a good idea to use the default Cessna 172, or maybe a freeware Cessna 150/152 (CC-KAA), to ensure that everyone starts off with a level playing field, using a simple fixed undercarriage aircraft with a full, modern radio installation for communication and navigation...?
(Especially for those using FS Navigator)....Wink...!

Once a sufficient number of members become interested with a simple set-up, then maybe more complex aircraft can be considered for longer runs...

Keep it simple to start off with, with short, local runs so no-one gets lost and misses out on their bacon sandwich at the destination airfield... Wink...!

Just a thought...Wink...!

The Estimated Air time will be around 30mins to an Hour,
We will be taking off from Heathrow at Around 7pm (Uk time) and hopefully landing at either EGWW Luton.

As Paul said Quote:

Thats why the destination has been changed and also try to use a General Aviation aircraft like a cessna or a piper for the first couple of hops, and then use bigger aircraft for the next lot.

Hope you don't mind the changes.

Nemo.

Nemo,

If your location in the UK is currently ON GMT (UTC) time....... then it should be minus 4 hours here in the Eastern USA which is on Daylight Savings.  So that makes your 7 PM there 3 PM here.

So my question is...... are you actually on GMT... or does the UK have the equiv. of our "Daylight Savings Time"?

best,

I've just checked my location is on GMT, so it would mean that it would be 3pm there. i have just set up the server and the flight is called "Heathrow to Luton" if possible i could host another flight later on in the evening for anyone who would like to fly then.

This is the Rough flight Plan shown below

Unfortunatley... the "later in the evening" one is not possible absolutely for sure.  I have to be at the "opening" for the faculty exhibition at the art college where I teach.

My Skype username is JBaymore (surprise, surprise) in case you get it set up.

Nemo,

I can't see you as a server in the multiplayer connect.

Let's try goping to the WSPilots.com flight server.  I just checked and no one at all is on the 23456 port machine.

The IP there is 66.147.177.125 with the connect port 23456.

I'm gonna go there and sit at the ramp at Heathrow after I try to find your IP address one more time.

I'll be in a default Cessna... tail # N100JB.

Hi, John and Nemo... Grin...!

An excellent Demo trip. Went like a dream... 8)...!
Top frame rates...!

JB, a question for you...

On the WSP site we used your connection details...(Yell0xxxxx)...
Is this permissible?
Is it your private connection?
How does it work?
Is it raining outside?
LOL...!

Cheers both...!

Paul... 8)...!

Addendum: Just read the "How to connect to the WSP servers"... Wink...!
Have you got to be registered with WSP to use their multiplayer services?
How do you identify the person you are looking for in the list of on-line pilots?
Do you have to exchange pilot names, time, and location before the flight?

It's stopped raining outside... Grin...!

Fozzer,

No, that IP address and the port number was the standard for that machine on WSPilots.  There are three servers...each intended for a different set of Hop Lists.  I THINK the port numbers are 23456 , 23457, and 23458.  Those get changed in the "Client Settings" screen in the multiplayer setup.

I do have to remind you that you need to have those ports open in your firewall and router/dls modem / cable modem though.  When there are a lot of people on sometimes the WSP server owners do a "port scan" and boot people whose systems are not set up correctly.  If you read their forums... you'll see it is a "hot issue".  I used the 23456 server simply because iot was the default port setting...and I didn't want to get into explaining how to change those  on the short time frame then Smiley.

They are open public servers to my knowledge.... which means that you don't HAVE to register in the WSP system.  But if you are going to fly there regularly..... it would be a good courtesy.

As to "recognizing" each other........ that is what tail numbers are for.  When you sign in... use the same one all the time.  After a while....... you'll get "known".  Just like hanging on SimV........ we ALL know who Fozzer is  Grin.

You also can use the chat system.  Or you can log onto the WSPilots Teamspeak channel and use voice there. When they are running a live ATXC session you HAVE to use Teamspeak.   In the chat window type "?TS" and you'll get the connection info for their Teamspeak server.   I have found Teamspeak to be VERY simple to setup and use.

Some flight servers require that you use a "realistic" tail number... so mine works OK most anywhere.  That means that "ShootToKill876" is not acceptable but something like "WB554" or "TWA-132" would be.

For online flying I am always N100JB on every server.  "N" for a USA call sign...... "100" because it is easy to hear and remember ....... and "JB" for obvious reasons  Wink.

best,

..........................john

John,

I have just checked the WSP port numbers and you are correct in saying that they are 23456 , 23457, and 23458.

It would be nice to have another flight in the Uk sometime with some more people, and if possible again use the WSP server ??
