Sorry if this has been covered, or I just can't find the answer but I was curious if there is a way that through a IP connect that the person hosting can set up the flight varibles such as date, time, weather, and available aircraft?

Yesterday was the first time my buddys and I tried FS9 online together and were disappointed that we had control over our own realism, weather and various other settings.
Also noticed that we couldn't use the ATC windows as well as switch views to watch each others aircraft (would be helpful when teaching one how to land properly).

So is there a way to achive this? Is there a utility that allows a host to set specific settings that will be seen and used by all? Or is it just that MS needs to hire someone that can write multiplayer code? lol

Just started flying (not hosting) m-p myself, so dont have a lot of answers, but this might be a start for you.

Check out the features.

The sessions I've been flying are the 'US Tours' series, being hosted by Jared and/or Ben(PianoMan), using the FSHost hosting software.

As for ATC, this is from the FSHost FAQ:

FSHost lets you do most of that.

Also get FSHostSpy... it shows all the "public" sessions on the whole net at any given time. You know... there are typically at least 100 OPEN flight servers online every time I have run the test. Over 1/2 of them have NO ONE flying at the time. If your goal is just to fly with friends........ not learning to host games or to "strictly" control flight variables............ you might spend more time flying together rather than "debugging" by just all meeting on en existing server ... that might have a Teamspeak system already set up.

Just a thought.

Teamspeak is the best comm program I have found. Voice makes all the difference in the WORLD in online flying. Typing into the chat box and flying are NOT really compatible. Wink

I flew last night on the Netwings flight server out of KLAX. They had ATC on at KLAX,....... but they are a text only situation at the moment. Flying with live ATC in a text only mode is REALLY a pain in the butt.

It's all very confusing...!
What I do is to relay to my on-line flying mate in advance via "Private Message", the aircraft type, aircraft model, the start location, time of day, time of year (precise date), weather conditions (generally "Clear Weather" for speed), traffic (generally "little" for speed!).....
...and that's about it...
....So that we both fly under ~~identical~~ similar conditions... Wink

Since we are on the topic is it possible for two people to fly the same aircraft? You know pilot and co-pilot?

I have been online flying on a server where three guys were setting up and flying the gates.to program. It took them a LONG time to get it configured correctly..... lots of "issues". They were logging on and off theserver and changing stuff over and over.

They finally got it working...and I heard them do a circuit "together".
