I see frequent reference to "textures" over in the design and repaint areas. What, exactly, is a texture?

A texture is like an additional paint scheme for an aircraft. For example you could add a British Airways paintjob to your default Boeing 747 and fly it.

...
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Should I ever develop any talent in design and/or repaint, is it possible to put a picture of your girlfrinend or your dog on the tail of an airplane? I would assume so; all you'd need would be the image in a digital format, correct?

Correct... but you would also need a good editing program if you want your repaints to look nice. You'd better have a look in the repainting forum.

BTW: textures are not only images on planes. Basically, textures are images on 3D objects.

Oh, yeah... I figured it would be possible to put just about any image on the forward side or vertical stab of a 747. I'm sure someone here has done it.  I didn't know the program would be available here, though.

There is so much that can be done with these things. I was cruising around many other parts of this site and I am just amazed at the wide array of what can be done. The guy who makes videos, TESEditor is his name, is a genius. All I can say is "WOW!!!"
