I did a Restore in Windows XP to try to clear up a different problem, and when I did I lost all of my Add on A/C in FS2002.  The directories are all still in the right places, the files are in the correct directories, but FS2002 refuses to recognize them in the Choose Aircraft menu.  What the heck is going on?  The aircraft folder is loaded with aircraft files but fs2002 only displays the default a/c.  Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Check the addon aircraft for CFG files. Uninstalling CFS2 deletes all CFG files making addon aircraft useless. Not experienced this problem in FS2002 but unless you can reverse the System Restore the best option might be to delete the addons & start again.

Yep, System Restore will vape ALL cfg files on the hard drive no matter what they are.  Thanks M$!

If you have a Second hard drive (as opposed to another partition on the same drive) or a CD burner, undo your restore point and backup all your add-on aircraft.  Re-do the restore point and restore your backup.

As MY system is in a constant state of flux I make a restore point whenever I install new aircraft or create one of my own as a matter of course.

Here's hoping you have a stable enough ystem to do all this when you undo your restore point, of course.

You guys were right, All my directories were stripped of the CFG files.  Once I realized that, it was a simple process of locating an older back up cd, made prior to the system restore.  I had backed up my Aircraft directory after I did the restore. Duh!!!

Good thinking Joe. Glad my suggestion helped. It was only a wild guess but it had to be something simple. Wink

PS. Thanks to Gnome for confirming it. Another one for the little black book. 8)
