I clicked on Open for a downloaded file and my computer spontaneously rebooted. What happened? Can I expect this from all downloads?

Somethings not right.
You should not have rebooted when opening a download.

It happened again at 2216 PDT. I was reading a series of posts in another section, she powered-down and instantly powered-up again, going through the whole long, agonizing process. I think I smell a power sag, most probably connected to an A/C unit kicking on somewhere in my building. If not that, maybe my power supply is going south. Good thing I have full coverage. This has happened twice in ten minutes; never before tonight in the four months I've had this machine.
I smell ozone...

Not yet. I'm thinking the problem is not related to this machine, but rather to the power coming in from outside. I can't unzip a download, anyway; I'm completely baffled as to how to do it. I think I have "enough" computer to do it, so I'm the problem...

To unzip a file, you need winrar or some other archving software. winrar is avalable for free. google it.
Once thats installed, just click on the download in question.

Sounds much simpler than all the keyboard gymnastics I'd have to go through to use a Microsoft product. I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
