My wife just walked in the door today and handed me the new Stones album!
Stuck it right in the CD player.
It then dawned on me that it was the first "new release" album from a group that I "grew up with" that I have had in years and years and years.
THEN it ALSO dawned on me.................. there aren't any GROUPS left that I "grew up with" that are still releasing new albums
.
It is a GREAT album....sounds like the earlier Stones for the most part. Some of the lyrics are great. They still "got it". Not bad for a bunch of "old guys".
best,

The old guys can still cut it, old musicians that is. They usually improve with age, like a fine wine. I've only heard the single which is a ballad so can't really comment. Mick Jagger's voice is beginning to sound a tad strangled to me.

Nice try John, why didn't you use the misalignment of Neptune in relation to Capricorn?
Then you could have used the Capricorn is suffering from the evil mis-posting weevil sneaking into their PC excuse

I'm listening to "Look What The Cat Dragged In" as I type this....... again...and again..... WOW! Never better. Rolls along like a freight train. Keith rips it up.
"Sweet NeoCon" is the Stones at their political cutting best....... sparse sound and pointed lyrics........ feels like the 60's again
.
"She Saw me Coming" is the boys at their mysogonistic best still talking about women.
"Driving Too Fast" is very reminiscent of early Stones...... lean instrumentation and raw harmonies.... nice.
Keith's voice however seems pretty darn weak on the slower "Infamy" ....... occasionally a hair off key.........which is the weakest track on the disk, I think. The mix has the vocal track a tad too prominent for the strength of his current voice. But that Keith is still ALIVE and performing considering his .... ahem..... "lifestyle"... is amazing in and of itself.
But his fingers.... man his fingers THEY still got it.

I'm hoping to get that album soon. I've heard the single "Hard Justice" on the radio and I really like it.
And Considering your reviews, it makes me want it more.

That song is "Rough Justice" and unfortunately is not a representative of the rest of the album.
It's not a bad album but it could have been better.

Indeed. Did anyone try my link? You can listen to 4 complete tracks. If that's a fair sample of the album then quite frankly I'm disappointed.

Bought the album yesterday and I wasn't disappointed. Quite satified honestly.
It stayed in my car radio all day and night during work.
