Well, ok then.  Now I have succeeded in doing a boolean, but the edges got kind of displaced during the operation.  Is this normal?

Ok, in trying to smooth this out, I did Modifiers/Subdivision Surfaces/Meshsmooth, and that helped a bit.  Is there a way to get this even more rounded without performing major surgery?  Smiley  I was messing with Tessellating to get more polys, but that only screwed it up more.  I've been messing with smoothing, but it doesn't want to get any better than this...

While it looks good - avoid the meshsmooth - it adds points and polygons that may not be needed.

I would push squeeze and spindle the vertices to get it as smooth as possible - manually.  You may want to chamfer the "mini-corner" vertices *basically it splits the vertices and creates a small polygon....
