Bf109 has dropped off the list
Planning to go on sat, should get there about 11.30, time to have a quick look-see before the flying starts.
Any tips about leaving?
I won't say I told you so. That's so disappointing.
On leaving after the show. You have two choices. Nip out just before the end of the display to avoid the rush. If it's a nice evening let them go & have a wander round the hangars for an hour or so while the crowd disperses. It really depends where you are in the car park. At the last show I was lucky enough to be about 100 yards from the exit. 8)

I normally park in the field behind the site, turn right where the sign says if coming from the M11. You need to walk over the bridge to get into the site but you normally get out without too much trouble. I usually hang around for about an hour after the show ends and by that time the traffic is moving quite well.
Sad about the 109 but I had heared that it was the Real Aeroplane Company Buchon so it is not so bad. Seafire and Brisfits are gone also and one of the Hurricanes.
On Sunday we should get a Spitfire/Tornado formation. Not seen this since Coningsby back in the 1980s.

I'm glad I found this out now rather than at the show. Very disappointing indeed. Not even sure I'll be going now.
PS.

This might be an option if you arrive early enough. I come from the other direction (A1 M) & have to go where I'm put.

It's got to be worth it to see all those Spitfires. I was at the BoB show in 2000 when they got twenty one Spits and a Hurricane up for the final flypast, amazing sight. I am a tad done about the Seafire and I've not seen a Brisfit flying for about five years.
Besides that, we are all looking forward to your photos

I'll be relying on you for the photos.
Those mass formations are very impressive to watch but I find it difficult to do them justice in a photo. I'm sure you will agree that the lighting at Duxford is all wrong so when the show starts you're shooting directly into the sun. This gets worse as the show progresses. That's if there is any sun to speak of as the forecast for Saturday is not promising. It's a long way to go to get soaked & those big air displays lost their appeal for me long ago. The relaxed atmosphere of the fly-in at Popham on Sunday suits me much better.
You can see a Brisfit at most of the Old Warden displays with a much better chance of a decent shot. Sorry but I prefer that to Duxford any day.
PS. I'm not trying to put anyone off so take no notice of me. It's just the way I feel about it.

We had a good day, weather was poor but didn't get too wet.
11 Spits in formation and playing follow the leader certainly held the crowd's attention, and the 4 hurricanes in formation was also a nice sight.
No decent aerial pics I'm afraid, one pic of 7 of the spits forming up might be ok. Static shots aren't too bad.
Sally B was the highlight for me, what a gal! The P51's also made a great noise chasing the Jug.
Got some video which I will try to digitise and post a link.
We got out fairly easy by the way, maybe the weather put people off?

Glad you enjoyed it.
Please post any photos you have. We'll see what Tempest can do tomorrow.
I also think I made the right decision not to go.

Please do post any pics and I would love to see the video. Right, I'm packed and ready and I'm off to Duxford. Weather here in Nottingham was truly pants yesterday, hope it's a tad better this morning in Cambridge.
Photos tonigh, keep an eye on the photo forum after about 21:00

9pm tonight?
Hawker you're too keen!
We only got back at 9pm
If I get any time I'll see what I can crop and resize, the aerial is worth it and the flightline shots were ok. I think you were right though Hagar, nothing I've not seen in your shots before.

Right, that makes me feel a little better. Despite my earlier comments I was looking forward to it.
Shame about the weather. It might be better at Duxford for Roger (HawkerTempest) today but it's worse down here than yesterday. Not raining but a low cloudbase & poor visibility. That puts paid to my plans for Popham. The whole point of a fly-in is that the visiting aircraft fly in from other airfields. What's the betting the sun will be shining tomorrow?

It was fine here in Nottingham when I got home tonight. In fact about ten miles out from Duxford on the way home the cloud base was well high enough for flying. If the show had started at 18:00 it would have been just fine.
