I am trying to create a helipad in FS2004 in my local area but the area is full of trees. how can i clear this location so as to place the helipad there. I use Airport for windows & Afcad.

If there is a better easier to use scenery design program out there i am more than willing to give it a try. I have noticed there have been no updates for these programs lately.
Thanks Allen

You will need to create an exclusion area in and around the helipad. This is not as simple as it sounds. In fact, it's a bit of a teadious process because you will need to put in the coordinates - obtained by pressing the slew button - and punch them in.

There are several tools here in the SimV utilities page or scenery-design page that can help you with that. Sometimes, you'll have to visit another site to obtain the tools that you need. You will also have to invest time in reading through the manuals and tutorials.

I hope this helps.

Put the helipad and the exclusion BGL into two different scenery areas. Make sure that scenery for the helipad is activated in the scenery library after the exclusion area scenery, so that the helipad is higher up the list. That should cure the problem.

"This is not as simple as it sounds." You got that right! I've tried every FS9 exclude program known to man have yet to exclude an area of my choice (except total as mentioned). Good Luck!

P.S. The flatten switch works better . . . I've put rather large holes in the top of more-than-one FS9 mountain Smiley

"WJI, I tried the flatten switch but it doesn't remove trees? " That is correct. My message stated it puts holes in the top of mountains. I have yet to get any FS9 exclude program known-to-man to remove trees from any of my AF2 new airports. Good Luck Smiley

WJI, The exclusion switch removes trees but it also removes everything else as well. You seem to only be able to use it where you don't want anything. i tried it and it also removed the helipad. If you place the pad where there are trees they grow through the pad. there has to be a simple way of removing objects and leaving what you want to remain.

In Exclude Builder under 'Exclusion Types' try unchecking 'All Objects' and check 'Library Objects' to remove the trees.

Worked for me. Used Afcad to create a helipad, Excbuilder (V2.0) to remove the trees.
