Silly question... If one should download an AFCAD file in a scenery-package, where should this afcad-file go... Just under the add-on scenery-folder or is there a specific place?

Thanks,

Omag

Personally i like to put them all in one folder, but you can place them anywhere where you have the scenery layers pointing to

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

Most Window's programs should be in the Windows Programs Folder. Just a suggestion; AF2 will work from any folder.

REMEMBER
place the AF2 Readme File icon on your desktop for ready reference; you will need it Smiley

The recommendation for AFCAD 2 with FS9 is to put the AFCAD file (named AF2-XXXX.bgl where XXXX is the airport ICAO code) into the Addon Scenery/scenery folder. FS9 then uses this file in preference to the default original, which is still there.

New to this myself, and am practising by modifying the new AFCAD2 file for the new Princess Juliana scenery, as planes tend to park at the entrance to the gate compound instead of in it.

What I did was to make a AFCAD folder in the Addon Scenery folder I than put all my afcad files in that folder that way they are in one place and once you manually add the folder one time any time you add to it fs will automatically add the extra file you just put in there, saving you the trouble of adding it manually. 8)

So the afcad-files should be treated as an add-on scenery file... It has to be activated?

Yes. Being a .bgl file it gets placed in the 'scenery' sub folder within the scenery area main folder of yor choice.

You could simply place it in the Addon Scenery\Scenery\ folder.

Mostly for organization purposes, I created a new area folder for afcads.... FS9\Afcads\scenery\<-- and place all AF2xxxx.bgl files here.

Depends. If you place the file within a scenery area folder (like Addon Scenery\scenery) that is already activated, FS9 will pick it up the next time it starts.

If you create a new scenery area folder, you'll have to activate it the first time.

Ok, Ive created a afcad-file in my add-on scenery-file. its add-on\afcad\scenery...

I've recently installed some ai.bgl files in there and the planes show up at the intended airport.

However, the airport now shows the default ground-textures ( fields etc.) where it didn't before. I've sorted the files so that the priority of the afcad file is lower than that of the airport-scenery. But that didn't help.

My question... is this normal, and where should I put my afcad-file in the scenery hierarchy?

thanks!

Are you talking 'bout textures drawn by the AFcad?

If so you can make them 'invisible' by reducing the 'width' of the elements (runways, taxiways, etc.) to 1. For aprons, uncheck the 'draw surface' box.

Also make sure there are no AFcad files associated with the airport, except the default.
