Ok...driver's ed is comming up real soon...and I wanna get my license really soon...

...and I can't be out training all the time...so I'm looking for a realistic driving simulation...one that will penealize me for traffic violations...

...btw...make sure its for the United States...otherwise i'm just gonna waste my time driving on the wrong side and following wrong laws...

...and it would be nice if it supports 900 degrees steering wheel rotation...so it can be just that much more realistic...

Find a friend , with a car, ideally!

Ask him to give you some lessons.

The more lessons you have, the better chance you'll have of passing.

Pick a friend with a beaten up old car, could prove expensive if you had a bump otherwise.....

GTR by simbin is one of the most realistic simulators for a PC, I rate it highly, but, remember, its a GT race sim, nothing like a road situation.  Wink

You won't learn that on a sim........  As Scania said ..... get out there and practice unless you have a 360degree sim.

Driver's Ed. should be enough for you to get the hang of it, unless the instructor's incompetent... maybe a couple of rides with a willing and non-judgemental license-holder  will add that extra little bit.
But I dunno- I got a couple of brief lessons from friends as a kid, but didn't even get my permit until I got a job at a U-Haul in Manhattan in my mid-20s and had to occasionally take the trucks around the block to park them, or making delivery or repositioning trips in the area.  Talk about a crash course!!! Never did hit anything, and let's just say after a few months maneuvering 24-footers in a packed garage, I got pretty good at parallel-parking. And I learned about traffic in the gut-wrenching crucible that is NYC, and lived to tell the tale. And did I mention this was their old fleet of ancient Fords, none of them automatics?Cheesy
If I could do it, so can you. It's not rocket science- the real challenge is learning to take it easy, think ahead, and drive assertively but not aggressively. Takes awhile.
Never heard of a safe-driving sim, but if nobody's selling one, that seems like a potential market. Grin

a good driving sim, Try driver, 1 2 or 3..... They are good for the sort of thing (if you dont get distracted blowing things up in 3) 1 you get Miami, San fransico, LA, and I dont know if theres another city, Driver 2, you  get Chicago, Reno, some city in cuba and another I forget, and in driver 3, you get Miami again and some european countries.. These games are the best 'driving' simulations I know of only 2 and 3 have car selection and they are better on console then the computer.... and from what I can tell, the cities are decently Modeled properly and you can learn to drive and or park in it.... Hope this helps, Cheers, Gunny

Yeah, thats a great driver simulator. As an added feature, it also teaches you how to handle a situation when the police pull you over...
