...over California and Nevada.
Decided to take my new F-22 for a short flight from Edwards (KEDW) to Nellis (KLSV)

The VC, fairly decent looking IMO PANTS, quite interactive tho! Cheesy
...

After a cruising at FL520, I decided to stick the burners on and dive to medium alt...
...

What flight of mine would be complete without this? Grin...
...

Slowly closing in on Vegas, pulling up alongside a Soutwest 737...
...

After waving at a few passengers and the pilot, broke away and carried on to Nellis...
...

Turning for short finals (yes, I know I'm off, but I'm a military pilot...who cares? Grin)...
...

Down, parked, engines off, another succesful flight...
...

Thanks for looking...
Carl

I thought that one of the major points of the raptor was no afterburners.

Hey Jeff,
Just had a look at a pic of a real F-22 panel/cockpit.....that one *points up* is pretty pants eh? Undecided

Ah well, she flies great and looks great in screenies too! Grin
I guess I'll just have to spend more time taking pics Wink

Jake : I think the deal is...it has them, but rarely needs to use them because of supercruise.

I'm sure someone will confirm either way Smiley

Charlie might be able to best help on this. But supercruise is used once at or above supersonic speeds. I believe the afterburners are used to get it there then they are switched off. Alot like Concorde used to fly.

Did I hear my name? Yep the F-22 does have burners, which day to day would be seldom used I expect. Take off and  maybe any period of rapid acceleration would require there use, and maybe combat etc. Supercruise in normal operating would probably utilise them to get past Mach 1 as quickly and as smoothly as possible, than going back to normal power, although it appear (from the reference below that the Raptor is capable of accelerating to M1.4 without the use of burners)...

Who knows that paint might be on the F-22 in the future, when it becomes a aggressor.  Grin The first aquadron will be based out of Nellis.
