Hy yall Cheesy

I created a panel for fs9 def. cessna 182 all is looking good. But I would like to chang some of the gauge bitmap. I used CfgEdit to creat the panel. Most of the gauges are def cessna 182 gauges. So how would I be able to chang the bitmaps with out affecting the def cessna's gauges?

Nice looking panel.

I have FS Panel Studio, the payware version of CfgEdit, so I don't know whether this will work in CfgEdit.

If you right click on a gauge you should see an option box that says "Edit this gauge".  Click on it and a gauge editor will open up with an option to "Edit bitmap".  Click on that and your default bitmap editor will open.

As far as messing with your default gauges you obviously can't edit a bitmap and expect to end up with the same .gau file.  You will need to copy and rename the .gau file and work with the copy.

Left click on it first so that it's highlighted, then right click.

Thats what I did in the above picture.

If I could find the bitmaps then maybe I could manualley edit them that way. But I haven't found the bitmap for the cessna keyswich, and the ather gauge bitmaps in the main gauge folder

The bitmaps are partof the .gau file.

If left clicking to highlight, then right clicking doesn't do anything Andrew may have been wrong about it working in cfgEdit.  Maybe check the manual.

Yeah it could be only  payware version of CfgEdit that you can edit the gauges. Do you know where the bitmaps for the cessna keyswich, and lightswich are ?

It depends on they type of file, .gau or .cab.

.cab files are easier to work with because they are just .zip files and WinXP can open them without a .zip utility.  Open the .cab file, edit the .bmp file, zip it back up and hope it works.

.gau files are more trouble.  They are written in C and contain the bitmaps and code in one file.  There is a utility called gaubmp2 that claims it will let you edit the .bmp files within a .gau file but I have only used it for viewing and not for editing.  If you can't find a copy let me know and I will email one to you.

Thank you for the reply.

I just changed the color of the bottum part of the panel to mach the gauges. But I woulden't  mind looking at the utility called gaubmp2.

I do have another questoin. I would like to up load this panel to Simv. I hane 3 gauges thet are in a cab file thay belong to another aircraft. Thay work just fine for me, but how can I get the gauges to work out side of to cab file so that I can upload the gauges with the panel? Of course I would have to get the ok form the person that made the panel that the gauges came from. All of the rest of the gauges in my panel are from the def cessna.

I have emailed you the gau/bmp file.

There are instructions on uploading files here - http://www.simviation.com/upload.html.
You don't need to upload default gauges

Thaks for the gau/bmp file.  Grin

I under stand how to upload the panel to simv. What I not sher about is 3 of the gauges are in a cab file that belong to another aircraft. The cab file has all the gauges to the ather aircraft. I only need 3 of the gauges. But thay dont work out side of cab file. What do I need to do to be able to include the 3 gauges from the cab file? Smiley
