Well I've got my PC more or less working, but my slave drive won't format. It has set itself to file type RAW and I can't convert her to NTFS. Any ideas as format fails from DOS and XP format....

You've tried the usual in DOS...(from boot floppy disk)...?
a:\ format (enter)
format d:  /u (enter)

Cheers Oz... Grin...!

Paul.

...assuming "d" is your slave drive.

Yup! Didn't work. I've just used a low-level format program from the HD makers website and it seems to have worked Wink
Now all I've got to do is reinstall everything. No flying for me today Sad

After a low-level format from the HDD utility CD, try to format again through windows (administrative tools/computer management/storage) with a full format. The low-level format is really just to prepare the drive so windows can recognize it, not so good for storing data.

lowlevel wipes the drive with zeros.
wihtout fdisk there is no life in it as far as windows is concerned.
