Simviation Forum - Can someone identify this place?

At the flea market a while back, I came across an old box of photos, and was fascinated by them. Most of them seem from the 40's, and are of a serviceman's life around the US and overseas. So for $20.00 for about 50 pics and an extra buck for a wooden file box, off I went. I wonder if someone might be able to help me identify what country this is or the year from the new cars. I have more pica that I'll post later of damaged tanks and buildings...

With 'Garden of Allah'?. Sounds like it must be from a country with some kind of Islamic following ???. Middle East/Africa or South East Asia sounds about right?

Were they Moslem countries in 1945? I must admit that I don't know. Never really thought about it. Photos of the buildings might help.
