Switch off the Windows XP firewall to start with.

rpmooberry,

Let's see if we can get some fertilizer on the roots of that houseplant........  Wink

Head down to the "Multiplayer" forum.... it's near trhe bottom of the forum listings.  In there you will see numerous tutorial threads on how to set up for multiplayer...... including opening ports in firewalls and routers and dsl modems and such.

It is well explained there.

best,

If you have service pack 2 then it's in the security centre in the control panel.

rpmooberry,

I'd just recommend opening the necessary ports.... not simply turning off the Win XP firewall completely.  A bit more secure.  A bit more complicated to DO... but not insurmountable.  Eno has a bunch of good info posted down here about how to do that stuff.  Check the "stickies" at the beginning of this Forum.

When I'm online flying, the couple of dsl modem UDP ports needed are open (varies a bit by the flight server I am connected to), the Win XP2 firewall is in place but fs9 has permissions set on the necessary ports to be open (again can vary by server uesd), and the antivirus and antispyware are also kept ON.

best,
