Or the first battle of Dogger Bank.
Early in 1904, at the start of the Russo-Japanese war the Japanese launched a daring gun boat attack on the Russian fleet in Port Arthur. In response to this the Russian Grand Fleet set sail from St Petersberg, in the Baltic with the intention of sailing round the world to attack the Japanese fleet.
However, sailing down the north sea proved to be far more dangerous than they could ever have imagined for as they were passing the region of Dogger Bank there appeard on the horizon a flotilla of what appeared to be Japanise Gunboats.
The Russian fleet naturally opened fire and attacked causing huge amounts of damage while not sustaining any losses of their own. They then proceeded to sail away leaving in their wake the trail debris and destruction that was....
The English trawler fleet from Hull.
