i have been told and even read somewhere in "Car&Driver" that Nissan is thinking of bringing the Skyline over. has anybody else heard of this or know anything of it??? please let me know. they would be stupid not to bring that car over here.

for one more computer technology than a 777. two very powerful, three awesome handling. It gives the Lancer and Impreza a backside kicking, but when its 20 grand more you'd expect that:)

And then someone asks you what make your 40 grand car is and you have to reply "Nissan". Hence the best reason not to get one.

I'm not all that familar with the Skyline (primarly because its not the kind of car I would buy). But, I have always been suprised that they aren't here-despite their cost I would imagine that would be very popular here. This kind of performance car would do well here.

i would have to agree that a skyline is probably one the fastest ways to get from a to b....but.....somehow they arent very much fun...
ive driven a few, standard r34 and tuned, 450 bhp, and while obscenely quick, offer no real challange to the driver. steering feedback is very limited, and you find yourself going extremley quickly but with no real sensation of going fast, if you get me. if i could afford one then i probably would get one, but only in addition to a ferrari 360 or similar...i like to feel whats going on, and in great handling cars, the more effort you put in the bigger the

Personally, I never want to have to reply "Nissan" to that question.

we have a version of the current non gt-r "skyline" (
) in the Infiniti G35 coupe. to bad nissan never brought the r34 over, that would be great. there are people in the US that import R34 GT-R's for about $100,000. for that money you could import a Noble M12 M400!

the Skyline is one bad A car, and i would pay 50 grand for it, soup it up even more and just go out and smoke all these people in there boxters and carreas just to show that you dont have to spend obsence amounts of money on a car just to have the speed. that and the skyline is a very nice lookin car. and yes it gives the Evo and Wrx Sti imprezza a kick in the butt, but i would still love to own one of those to. and who cares if its a Nissan, i would rather own a Jap import instead of a BMW or a Jag or anything, i would gladly admit that i paid 40-50 grand for a Nissan and when someone started to make fun of me for it, take em out to the track and school in my Skyline

But the problem is, buy the time you've brought the Skyline, and had it souped up you will probably have spent just as much as anyone your going to smoke. Especially if all they've got is a Boxter.
If your gonna blow that much on a car, then at least blow it on a make that's worth it.

im not sure if (standard) skylines are any quicker than evo's......officially they make 276 bhp, but its more often 300. but these days you can buy an evo with 230, 300 or even 400 bhp...i dont think a standard 'line would smoke a 400 bhp evo.....

Personally I'd rather save my self £47,000 and buy a Landrover. Then if some prat in a Skyline or Evo challenged me to a race I would agree on the condition we could have a crash afterwards.

The new skyline has beaten the Evo.
And Boxter? ahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
infact even a boxter owner would laugh at you if you spent 50 grand on a nissan and then a ton more on kitting it out just to beat a boxter.
As for jaguars, which do you mean? the 2 ton s type or
the X type which barely tops 200bhp for half the price of a skyline.
Sorry but for the 50 grand they are asking for the skyline you could buy. An aston martin v8 vantage, a ferrari 355. Both of which could take a skyline out back and whoop it. In a couple of years you could get a ferrari 360 for 50 grand. At least you can say you own those with pride

thats true, but with a ferrari you have the worry of unreliability (which they are!), very high servicing costs and insurance.... at least with a skyline you know it aint gonna break, you could service it yourself (well, i could anyway) and though insurance would indeed be high, my guess is it would still be lower than a ferrari.
but id still have the ferrari!!

Its safe to say, if you can afford the Ferrari, or Skyline, Insurance isnt going to be too much of a problem, same goes for parts:)
I would actually put the Skyline above the Ferrari for insurance, its more of a street racer and more likely to be stolen. But thats just a guess. Your more likely to be found driving an exotic car like a ferrari than a non-descript Nissan.
Again who wants to admit to the cops you own a 50grand nissan

ok..just a few figures..
ferrari 360 0-60 = 4.5 seconds
evo mr fq-400 0-60=3.5 seconds
ferrari 360 400 bhp, 275 ib ft torque
evo mr fq-400 405 bhp, 351 ib ft torque
guess which one costs half the price of the other....?

Guess which one is made by possibly the most famous and recognisable manufacturers of super cars and which is made by a Japanise company selling stupid cars to stupid youths.
Yes, I'd rather own a Ferarri over an Evo.

Now there's a damn fine point. If you wanna go smoke some Porche on the cheap then why not buy an Ariel Atom.
Cheaper than both the Skyline and the Evo too.

i doubt that, i would say a ferrari would be the target of more car jackings than a skyline

The Skyline is one cooool car - apart from the Nissan badge. I think it used to have the record for the fastest production car around the Nurburgring at one time.
Unfortunately at the moment I see loads of them around these days & although some are really nice ones around, there are some really shabby 'used' one's being imported aswell.
Here's a cool one I saw today:

think i'll stick to my supercharged pug....not as quick as a ferrari/evo/skyline, but does 0-60 in 5.9 seconds, does the qtr mile in 14.1, and only cost me 3k all in. and i can insure it for £250 a year, park it anywhere, fix it myself and is STILL one one of the best handling cars of all time! plus, unlike most ferrari owners im not scared to give it a thrapping...and regulary do (only on the track though, of course...

It definately held the unofficial record for a
standard production car
, it was set in 1995 by a Skyline GTR on the old 12.95 mile circuit.
Not sure that the TWR XJ220 is classed as a standard production model - i could be wrong though.
Quote:
As a result, the new R33 GT-R model, which went on sale in Japan two years ago, holds the unofficial lap record on the legendary 13-mile Nurburgring circuit in Germany, at 7min 59sec, some 21 sec quicker than the best time set by its prececessor, the R32.

it would be cool, but the layout wouldn't allow it sadly. Although the record is held by an F1 car from 1975 i believe.

You'll love it!! I went a few years ago & took a M3 round the old circuit - it was mental & quite scary!!
Unfortunately two bikers died at the circuit the weekend I was there.
We also did Eau Rouge in Belguim & that was brilliant.
If you do go to the Nurburgring make sure you visit the bar in the Dorint Hotel - it's brilliant & looks right onto the new circuit.

First of all if someone were to ask you what you drive you are to reply with..Skyline not Nissan
Ferrari may be the most renown car builder with the best name and everything. That is precisely the reason why I wouldn't want to have one! Hey look at me being cool in my ferrari
If you want something fast for less money by a Koeniggsegg CC With a top speed of 387.5 km/h . Or if you want to spend real mony buy an Bugatti Veyron which tops 400 km/h easily and has an 1000+ HP engine. I would prefer the skyline over all of these cuz my god! look at those taillights!
Look at everything. And.......Initial D!!
