Alright the title may be misleading but anyways..... I have a school project (aurgh hate em) And I need to make a movie...... I plan to do it in FS With Fraps save to file, go through editing and add my voice and some music Then.... my question, How do I burn the Movie format to a DVD and have it work on DVD players at school? Any help would save me a lot of frustration and prolly give me 500 points! Cheers, Gunny

It depends if your school DVD player supports DivX or not? As that can affect which method you use.

Very few DVD players support divx.
MPEG2 is the standard for DVD's.
I use Adobe Encore DVD 1.5 and its terrific. Great features and no recording bugs. It is however a professional solution and comes with a pro price. I suggest you check it out if you are into movie editing. The integration with Premiere is outstadning as well. It has good compatibility with Avid software aswell.

PS: When I get to burning the DVD how am I supposed to do it and make it right rather then making a file that wont run on a DVD player/burner?

Gunny, believe it or not, what you're asking for is quite complicated. lol
First, there are several DVD formats. DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW and DVD-RW. For reasons unknown to me, my DVD player will only play +, and not -. Or maybe that's the other way around, I don't remember. lol
As with CDs, R means you can write to it once. RW means you can 're-write' it. Truthfully, I don't even screw around with RWs. It's easier for me to just make sure my edit is complete before I burn.
The easiest way (albeit not the cheapest) is to burn it to a + and burn it to a -, that way you've got one of each. (That's how I discovered mine doesn't play -...or was it +?)
As for software, I highly recommend Pinnacle Studio 9. It's a great little program, and has more than enough features for the average home user. I've played with Sony Vegas, but I really didn't like it. PS9 is really like Windows Movie Maker on crystal meth. I don't think you'd be disappointed.
I'd pick up the smallest pacakge of +Rs and the smallest package of -Rs that you can find. Burn to each and you should be good to go.
Great edit, Bob.&&&&&&Google it. &&&&

You should be golden if you master it as an MPEG2 (I've had good results on a variety of players- some quite cheesy- with my home-burned DVDs), but ideally you should check the machine in question. If it doesn't say on the deck, try the manufacturer's website.

I certainly hope you're not trying to do your voiceover at the same time you're flying and recording...geez.
Another advantage of 8-10 second shots is you can do them over and over until you've got them right, then just edit them together in 'post-production'.

I'm about to make it more complicated.
there are two competting dvd formats, DVD-r and DVD+R
DVD-R was the first standard to be used widespread. Old DVD players will only play this format. Use this for better compatibility.
DVD+R is the newer one and is "better". What this means is that it has higher burning speeds. It may play on less DVD players (generally older ones).
There are technical differences between DVD+R and DVD-R, but in terms of quality are generally the same.
All current DVD players being sold now support both formats.
There also is DL stuff, but I won't get into it unless you are using a double layer disc.

Ok, in encore, in the project window, tell encore to burn project. Then insert a dvd-r and it will burn it for you.
Encore will encode the input video (and other stuff like menus) so that it will play on any dvd player. Encore will not burn files onto the disc.
