Um, this forum wont let me stay in the username Caldabolg. So I had to make a new one.

Anyway,I've modeled my cowl flaps, flaps, horizon stabalizers, ailerons and gear doors for my p47-D.
Right now,I want to set up the pivot points and animations for my gear doors, so I can begin to model the landing gear.(My favourite part on plastic models and flight sim models Grin)

I was wondering if I should make my gear animations slightly off time from each other.I noticed that some ww2 flight sim planes have landing gear animations such as this. One landing gear retracts, then part way thrue retracting, the other landing gear begins to retract.I hope this is clear enough....

After lunch Im gonna post some updated pics of my progress. Any nitpicking (or tips) would be great!

I would suggest that you try to view some videos of P-47s taking off and retracting their gear.  What you say of altering the gear retraction/extension timing will, at least, look good.

Also, if you're looking for accuracy, I understand that because of the P-47s large diameter prop, the main gears actually had a 6-inch telescoping action to provide for prop clearance.  That means that without the telescoping action, the extended landing gear (static, no compression) would not fit into the wheel wells ... they'd be 6 inches too long.

Any tips on improving my model would be great!

So, where can I find tuts on setting up the pivot points for flight sim(stock animations).I tried messing around with them on my gear doors(gonna have to keyframe them), but it doesn't rotate  like I want it to...
