I guess this is the proper place to post this. Does anyone here use a Fresnel lens (proper spelling?), and if so what do you think of it. I've seen them advertised, but was wondering how the image looks when it's blown up. Is it distorted in any way. Does the lines look jagged, like the AA is off?

I dont think so...
Ive seen pictures of them being used i know it increase depth and all that stuff...
but the lens itself is jagged.. but i dont think it does anything to the quality except increase it..
Just makes each pixel abit larger...
I would get one... ive looked for them but cant find one for a good price..

Ive tryed it, and it works. but here are some problems, and the reasons why I dont use it anymore. First of all, its hard to find a lense that is bigger than your monitor, so when it magnifies it, you can only see as much as the area of your lense. Its like looking at a giant monitor through a window the size of a sheet of paper. Also, light tends to reflect in the grooves on one side of the lense, so you get white curvy lines through your view. another thing is that you have to sit so close to it that your nose almost touches it, and that strains your eyes- imagine sitting 7 inches away from the TV. If you can find a really big lense, it might be worth it. Ive considered going on the hunt for one at least 2' x 2', but they are expensive.

Check out
http://www.alltronics.com/lenses.htm
as a source...look about 1/2 way down the page, pretty good prices given the lens size.
http://www.edmundoptics.com/
also has a few, higher priced but probably better quality.
