Spring Aero-Jumble at Shoreham today so I popped over to see what was going on. Beautiful weather for it but it was a tad misty to start with. This meant that some of the visitors I was hoping for didn't turn up. After a good look round the stalls I hung around hoping to get a few photo opportunities from a different angle than my usual vantage point. Here's a selection of my more interesting shots. I tried to get Lancing College Chapel in some specially for Felix.
All good practice for when the display season starts. Can't wait. Shame the last one didn't turn out as I wanted. I waited specially to catch him too. Oh well, hope you like them anyway.

Its a Stampe SV4, a Belgian contemporary of the Tiger Moth, but slightly more aerobatic! They're very similar looking aircraft, and until now I hadn't known why (possibly) - Mr Stampe was the importer of DH Moths into Belgium in the early 1930's!

That's some "chapel" they've got there; looks like a bloody cathedral! Must be a very handy landmark! More sweet pix- thanks, Hagar. I really ought to see what's going on pre-season-wise around here...

Thanks chaps. I didn't wave to Felix on the webcam as the Aero-Jumble was right across the other side of the airfield. The roped-off section was where I took these shots from. Maybe I'll give you a wave next time I venture over there.

Supposedly the biggest school chapel in the world. It's certainly a very handy landmark. I was once told it was originally intended to be longer but they ran out of funds so completed it as it is now. Not sure there's any truth in it.
Another landmark, the old cement works chimney further up the valley belching out white smoke & showing the wiind direction from miles around, is unfortunately no longer in use. Better for the environment but a loss to the aviators.

Superb shots Doug, I think you're ready for the season
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Thanks Mark. Not sure I'll ever be ready. I've been after that Starduster for ages & finally everything fell into place. It was worth hanging around for a few hours just for that shot & everything else is a bonus. I've discovered that this lark is mainly a matter of luck & plenty of patience.

Thanks Craig. It's nice enough where I am. Not sure what I'm doing sitting here talking to you intead of taking advantage of it.
I might go to the Jodel fly-in at Popham on April 10th. They tell me that's a nice friendly place with lots of photo opportunities. The first proper air show of the season is the Spring Air Display at Old Warden on May 1st. All being well I shall be there.
