YES YES YES.

I personally think il2 FB is much better than CFS2 or 3. the only problem with it is there arnt any spitfires  Cry
Still, it provides a much more realistic experience. For example, EVERY building in cities are destructible, whearas Cfs3 doesnt have as many

If that wasnt enough, the mission builder is much better than CFS series as you can add trains, tanks, columns, static aircraft, ships, uboats all much easier than cfs mission builder

It might make your graphics card bleed though Sad

I got the IL2 Sturmovic  which I don't think much of. Is this different from the IL2 FB? I also have the Lock On which I seldom use because I have problem controlling with my joystick (MS Sidewinder Feedback 2).

If he just has FB, then he won't have any Spitfires.
He'll need to go out and purchase the Aces Expansion Pack if he really wants them.

IL2 is about 4 or 5 years old now. FB and AEP can now be bought at a very reasonable price, and PF is still normally at full price. I believe all three were based on the same game engine...

However, you may want to wait for Oleg Maddox's latest, a Battle of Britain sim, with a completely new game engine, sometime mid 2005...

Ahh correct, my bad, I was assuming since the Gold pack is the only way I have seen it for sale.

More like late 2006 from the sounds of it, the soon to be released "patch" for PF (more like Forgotten Battles patch) will be 4.0 and contains the new flight models and engine that will be used in the making of BoB, the add-on is going into testing phase on Monday which means that BoB isn't even started so 2006 might be the earliest anyone sees BoB.
That is my take on it you can go read Olegs post at the UBI forums and gather your own Wink

Now what's that update supposed to be? A patch for FB or for PF?

And you can't go wrong with FB. It's up to you whether you buy the expansions or not.

Hi and thanks everyone. Cheesy
I have some more questions.

1. What is the AI like? are they really challanging?
2. Is the damage modelling realistic?
3. What sort of missions are there and what is the campaign like?
4. How graphics hungry is it?  My computer runs FS2004 with medium settings
5. What's lock on like? (just wondering you don't have to answer this if you don't want

Thanks...Chris Grin

Yup.

A few single missions and serveral dynamic campaigns.

Should be enough.

A pure waste of money. Unless you're more interested in graphics and complex controls than in good campaigns.
