Is it possible for users of different MS FS versions to join a multiplayer game?
Suppose a FS2004 user hosts a multiplayer session and a FS98 user connects directly to the first user's IP address.
Is it possible at all or do all participants need to run the same FS version?

My system specifications:
FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2004 - AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU - 3 GB PC-3200 DDR400 dual channel RAM - 500 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm SATA-II hard disk - Sapphire Radeon HD 5750 1 GB PCI-E graphic card - Logitech Wingman Force 3D joystick + Logitech Formula Force pedals
My FS whereabouts:

The only two versions that can be linked,
as far as I know
, are FS2002 and FS9 ...... this is done through FSHost. Otherwise if it's direct IP then you can only use the same version.

Hi eno...!
I tried to connect with you last Sunday, (
in the nicest possible way, of course!
) for the afternoon fly-out, you in FS 2004, and me in FS 2002, (I used the default Multiplayer option in FS 2002 and your IP number), without success...
...!
So, like Friday, I still don't know if its possible to mix different flight sims together, FS 2002/FS 2004...?
Paul....(still prefer FS 2002)...LOL...

I don't know why you couldn't connect Mr Fozzer ..... I was running FSHost with all the relevent ports open and I have had peeps with 2K2 connect with no problems. Me thinks you are running something which prevents the relevent connections.

It's a funny old do...
...!
My computer is a completely bog-standard set up, nuffin' unusual, 56k modem connected direct to BT's line, running FS 2002 Pro, and using the in-built Multiplayer option in FS 2002.
Only once, in the distant past, have I ever been able to fly with Ozzy, (or anyone else for that matter), and only when he "Hosted" the flight, and I "Joined"... 8)...!
I have "FS Host" installed, although I could never figure why the FS 2002/2004 Multiplayer option is not used more, as it seems so simple...?
I did a search, to connect to your IP number, but it would not connect, and the "Join" button was always blank....
.....a bit like the expression on my face every time I try out Multiplayer....and fail....
....!
LOL...!
Cheers eno....
...!
Paul.

Are you sure you haven't got a firewall running which is preventing the transfer of data.

nuffin'....only the usual Outlook Express security options* set at the usual "medium"... 8)...!
I've got no fancy stuff, like routers, route finders, tree roots, square roots, firewall, brick wall, Max Wall, etc...
Just a plain old PC plugged direct into Mr. BT's phone line...
Me on one end, you on the other...

In the meantime, I will find a dark corner and cry solitary FS98 tears.
