This site has possibilities for anyone wanting to set up a simpit and not wanting to have to "hack" a keyboard........... and who is also looking for the most "bang for the buck".  The cheapest unit they have is LESS THAN $20!  (KeyWiz Eco2)  The $35 unit is the most expensive one.  Key assignments are programmable.

For between $40 and less than $100 you could move all of your keyboard flight controls to real switches (exclusive of the switch cost).  (Reminder: These still have to be momentary ones though.)

I already have a hacked keyboard up and running, but this looks like it would be much easier to work with, thanks for the link.
