I'm applying the BMP's for my three views as textures to planes.  Is there any way of locking the planes in place so that I don't accidentally move them?

Map the BMPs to a box object or three to four planes depending on how may views you have.
For an idea of what to do see this

Will - once you have the images mapped to the planes, and positioned correctly - go into the properties of the planes and unclick "show frozen in grey", then freeze the damned thing.  It ain't gonna go anywhere then!

Thanks Felix.  It worked but I was unable to see the damned image when there was another shape selected.  I have returned to the old method of applying the image to the background via Alt-B.

Cheers
