Here's a photo from the airport's webcam of Air Force One, I got out of work at 1:30 today and just as I headed down the road I saw AF1 on final approach to Michiana Regional in South Bend, it was very cool as planes of this size don't normally fly into South Bend, I thought about driving over past the airport but I forgot my camera and I figure I probably couldn't get anywhere near enough to take a picture.
However, my woman bowls tonight right across the road from the airport so I sent the camera with her in case she could get any good pictures.

Also, as I was just coming into the town I live in (about 25 miles north of South Bend) there was some sort of military plane like an F-15 or something doing a big turn over our town and heading back south.

Well, if the little woman comes up with any good pictures, I will post them here, in the meantime I need to get to the T.V. to watch what the President has to say, they have gone live from Notre Dame as I type this.

Nice...I wasnt expecting him to come in on AF1.  Ide love to get some pictures if they were possible but dont know my way around South Bend.  But if AF1 ever makes it into FWA that might be doable.  Theres a photagrapher on Anet that apparently works there...Thinking of checking with him anyways for this coming summer...theres a special flight i want to catch departing (will have my girlfriend on it as she starts her journey back to Taiwan Cry)

They were just showing AF1 at the airport on the news and said about a dozen people actually got to take a tour of the plane, but they had to have some connection to someone involved with the president to get cleared to tour AF1, apparently one of the Presidents pilots is from this area.

I always find it to be so cool when the President comes to town.

You do realize that he could be flown in on a total stranger's ultralight, and that would still be AF1, right?

would a hot air balloon be called AF1 if he was on it. Actually, its funnier to picture him stealing a balloon...

???

I believe that technically any aircraft the President is on is designated Air Force One, but generally it is the 747 in the picture above that is usually being refered to.

I guess I was pretty lucky, they said he arrived 45 minutes ahead of schedule, if he would have been on time I wouldn't have got to see that beautiful bird slowly gliding through the air.

If any A/C the pres. was designated AF1 Marine one would be AF1 as well! It just goes that any aircraft the pres. is on is ______ 1.

so if choppers are Marine 1, planes are Air Force 1, what are parachutes? Reserve 1? Grin Grin

but really, would it be true:

Plane - AF1
Chopper - Marine 1
Boat - Navy 1 or Coast guard 1?
Car - Army 1?
Train - ??? (like he ever travels a train?)

I'm assuming that a navy aircraft would be Navy 1, a Marine aircraft is Marine 1 and an army aircraft would be Army 1.

Well, no more pictures, my woman said they had most of the roads blocked off near the airport and that they had traffic all screwed up, but that's kind of how I figured it would be.
I watched AF1 take off live on TV but it was starting to snow so pretty much as soon as it left the ground ground it was gone in the clouds.

The President has been to South Bend twice in the past year, hopefully he will come back in the future before he leaves office.
