What sdk programs do I need to make the aircraft work.  As in the cfg and air files.  To get the aircraft to work (for test purposes only), I've been adapting other cfg and air files for my aircraft.  The reason I'm asking is that makemdl has 2 errors that come up when I'm exporting an aircraft.  Does this have anything to do with my other custom files needed to make the plane work?

MakeMDL.exe only uses the X file that is produced when Gmax calls the FSModelExp.dle plugin to convert the *.gmax format to X file format.

Can you give some background on what the error message is telling you?

Ok, It says the following: MSXML4.dll could not be loaded.  Config files won't be read.  It says that 2 separate times. while it is exporting.

config files are explained in the aircraft container SDK.

Flight Dynamics Primer 101

FOR THE MOST PART - the entries in the aircraft.cfg as they relate to flight dynamics override what's in the air file.

There is no SDK publicly extant from Microsoft describing the air file setup.  What documentation on the air file contents has come out through the exploration of many interested people.

If you are beginning in aircraft modelling, stick to the easily editable aircraft.cfg file entries.

Check the aircraft design faq posting in this forum for additional guidance.
