what mobo?

i've always had double-sided PC133 SDRAM... so i don't know if it works with a single-sided

More specs please. There are more things to consider.

Its also important that you match the fsb of your ram with your CPU.

??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

When I had an older PC, I remember being advised to use the same type and brand RAM. Also to follow the mobo User's Manual regarding sequencing of the slots.  Speaking of RAM. What's the difference between a PC3200 and a DDR400

PC3200 is the same thing as a DDR400. Their just diffent names for the same memory clock rate.
