. Everyone seems to think this A380 is like a new god in the sky, how it will bring about a change, they forget to mention, that few airports are ready for it, costing millions in upgrades.
Just as well its not entering airline service for another couple of years then...
Only time will tell how good the aeroplane is. My bet is that it will be very successful...

enters service next year
the main airports will be ready for it though by then. Fed-Ex want it on their Memphis routes, surprisingly Memphis is ready for it, despite its size.
I am sure the A380 will do well, but i see all these things about it over taking the 747, all i can say to that is. Come to me in 30 years, and if its still selling well then it can try to claim that.

Interesting how Boeing has somewhat swapped places with Airbus and their ideas... 747 vs Concorde (well, not really Airbus I guess) Boeing decided to go huge, heavy, and slow, whereas the other went for small and fast. Now boing is going for the smaller, faster plane, while Airbus is going for big.
Also, I don't really know that it's in the best interest of either company to overtake the other. As mentioned, competition is very good to have in this industry.
The day is always better when you're flying upside down.&&&&

The 747 was never in direct competion with Concorde. They catered for completely different sections of the market. The first Airbus Industrie aircraft was the A300 in 1972. Concorde was a separate Anglo-French project first proposed in 1961, long before Airbus was in business.

The "top 5" listed seem to conform with the FTG cpavirtual.org VA's most popular American simulines. Looking through the timetables of these airlines, interestingly Northwest seems to have the most Airbuses of the 5 while Delta has virtually none, has no 747's and are still using 767s for overseas flights. With the recent news yesterday about Delta posting a record 5.5 billion $ loss, it would seem like they won't be upgrading anytime soon much less to an A380. However another news story last year said Delta was interested in upgrading their old classic 737's , though whether to Airbus or Boeing there's no news yet. Overall, according to the AP last week Airbus has been outselling Boeing for the last two years. It also said Airbus was 80% funded by the European Aerospace Agency etc.
