i dont believe it...woke up this mornin ready to go back to work after a nice holiday, only to find that some inbred fool decided it would be fun to smash the windows in on my beloved 205....God knows how i didnt hear it, my dogs didnt even seem to notice, which is strange cos usually they let me know if someones hanging around outside. so now im left with a car covered in glass, with no windows. luckily i take the face off my stereo every night so they didnt get that. but on a positive note, i think i might know who did it..... That's sick! You just don't mess with someone's car! I hope the offender gets a horrible itch on a spot that he can't reach!

That happened to us the other the other night.  Someone broke into our POS 1987 Suburban thats always unlocked (because if we lock it sometimes we can't unlock it) and theres nothing to steal inside.  They smashed the drivers side door window and rooted around inside for a while and found nothing.  They decided to steal my dad's torn but warm gloves because it was a cold morning.

The odd thing was the next night they came back and broke into our 1999 Suburban (again, there is nothing to steal inside).  They broke the handle off the door and rooted around inside for a while and stole nothing.  This time though they left their little key tool inside.  Anyway, I'd like to get my hands on them.

We replaced the broken window with one from a junk yard over the weekend (and that was a lot of fun, it wasn't hard but it was really cold outside).  But we still haven't had time to fix the door handle on the 1999.

My parents were pretty pissed.  What supprised me is our dog didn't bark or anything.  I can't imagine she wouldn't hear a window being broken.

Anyway, I know your pain dude.

A car window can be broken silently, no tools no tricks, I was told how but didn't believe it until I tried it on an XJS I was making into a convertable.

ball-bearing ball,
with low temperatures, it's more prone to breaking silently and they know that

You know, I got the feeling that they broke our window when they left.  Like I said, the door wasn't locked.  Plus, where the hole was-a little up and to the left of dwad center on the window, it was a bit of a challenge to reach the lock thing on top the door.  So, I'll bet breaking our window was a more senseless valdalism thing after they went through the car than anything else.  So, in my case they probably won't worried about sound.
