I rarely get that problem as well with Gmax. Try shortening the name of the file. It could be that having too many characters for a file name can cause this problem.

Or try opening the file from Windows Explorer rather than from inside FSDS2.

If none of these methods work, then I'm sorry to say that you will have to start all over again. Unless you have already created backup files [ie: myfile01, myfile02, myfile03, etc.].

This might sound silly but do you have the file named VarTable.txt in the FSDS2 root directory folder?

I'd cut my losses and contact Adam at Abacus and see if you can download another copy. They're usually very helpfull.

From your earlier screen shot FSDS appears to be starting. Do you get the error message immediately on start up, or when you try to open/save a file?????

I had this problem, I moved the fsds from F drive to D drive thinking all would be well. It wasn't!

When you instal fsds it puts 3, yep count 'em folks....
3 inserts into your Registry. Running the uninstal program DOES NOT REMOVE THEM. These point to the last place where you had fsds set up properly, which includes the address for the Variable Table.txt.

Copy all the project files, bmp's, .mts etc that you have created and paste into a folder suitably named.

Delete fsds, go into your registry and delete all references to fsds, Abacus etc and then reboot.
Instal a new fsds and copy and paste your saved work back into your new fsds.

It worked for me, but I lost a lot of hair fathoming it out.

It took almost an hour to remove and delete a crap load of stuff in the registry,  clean to any sign of Abacus software, and reinstal!
Thanks a bunch guys
