all right. I have changed a few things in my pc in order to improve my cfs1 game and instead all i got is that it doesn't run as before. there are major problems with the graphic of the game (models without parts of textures). before I had a TNT2 graphic card with 16mb and Windows 98 SE. now I ve Win XP with a nVidia GeForce 4 mx 440 with the last drivers installed. now, what can i do to solve the problem? i must say that I have no problems with Cfs2 which runs ok. can it be possible that i need some sort of older driver or else?

have you tried re-installing CFS ? If you've installed XP over the top of it this may be all you need to fix it.

I run XP and CFS on 9.0c drivers with no problem (although it takes slightly longer to load than it used to on a system that runs 10 times faster lolol ain't that jest typical?)  Wink

as a matter of fact i've re-installed it a few times but it didn't work. now it's even worse if possible when i try to run a mission or a campaign mission a message tells me that there's a problem: something to do with cfs module problems. it's a shame I really loved cfs1 and I don't seem to be able to play it anymore!

Which desktop resolution are you using? If I remember correctly CFS1 doesn't like anything over 16 bit colours. Of course, I could be wrong about this.

I think you could be mistaken on that Dougie! Im still on '98SE with a TNT2 Pro, and my desktop is 800*600*32. In CFS1 its 960*720*32! It works fine with great GFX! Ill be able to try it in XP soon.

I had the same problem when I went from 98se to xp pro. I had weird problems with the game on differnt hard drives or partions.Apparently CFS1 doesn't want to be anywhere but on the C drive. I wiped out EVERYTHING and started completely from scratch, adding add-on scenery and 3rd party planes  one at a  time to be sure they worked. Many planes did not work even with the "fix" ....Doug,help me out here,I can't remember what that  conversion fix was...MDL something?

Anyway, for the most part it works ok now offline .Haven't flown on line though in ages so I couldn't tell you about that. Roll Eyes

Hi Dave. I think you mean the MDL Repair utility. http://www.simviation.com/fs2000utilities_gen2.htm
Patching the MDL file with this utility should fix problems with most early 3rd party aircraft that are incompatible with WinXP. Note the bug is with the aircraft models & XP - not CFS1. It only affects some models, not all. This is obviously not necessary for a new install of CFS1 with no addons. There are 2 versions of the utility. If one doesn't fix it try the other one.

Fulvio. I just read through what you said more carefully. Quote:

In my experience the CFS1 Reinstall option doesn't seem to do much at all. If you've been using the Reinstall option please try the Uninstall option instead. Uninstall CFS1, then Install it (Typical install) to the original path. If your CFS1 is in the default location don't change anything. This always fixed most problems with CFS1. I suspect it will fix yours.

PS. This shouldn't affect your addon aircraft except for repainted/modified defaults. Depending on how you installed it, addon scenery will need reactivating from the Scenery Library.
