I have made a real nice mission about the attack on Midway.
I escort a bunch of Dauntlass dive bombers to attack the 4 Jap Carriers off the coast of Midway. This is where thr problem is.
As you know, the carrier decks were loaded with planes getting ready to attack Midway, but when I attack, there are none. I have looked and Looked for a way to put Kate torpedo planes, Val dive bombers, and Zero's on the decks with no success. Can this be done? If so how?

            Thanks

The ony way BUZZ I can think you can do this is by placing the kates and Vals  planes on the carriers as if they where to take off and place your trigger as close to your carrier as possible. In another word spawn them with the closes trigger possible to your attack point to the carrier. Give them a route off the carrier . Place their secound flying track as close to the carrier as possible with the order to ditch. It takes a while before they can takeoff and thats the reason you must put your trigger that activated them as close to the action as possilble.
hopefully that will allow you to attack the carrier before the Vall and Kate can take off.
I have never tried this but think it should work.

Hi Buzz_1,

It  can be done but it's a bit tricky.  First download "Flat Tops with Bird's" Mission, (Missions, Page 20).
Load it in mission builder and take a look. Zoom way in on the carrier and you can see the placement of the aircraft. I used the MB to do this. You have to watch that you don't get the planes to close together or the MB will snap them on top of each other. Best to save and reload mission after adding each aircraft and check that you can still see the same number that you should have. If you can only see 5 and there should be 6 then two of them are on the same spot.

These aircraft must be 85 to 90% pre-damaged or they will take right off.

I make them follow the same waypoints as the carrier because they tend to drift and fall off the deck.

After saving you must hand edit the mission file in order to change the speed and alt. of the planes.
Start by setting the speed to match the speed of the carrier.
Set the alt. for 50ft. (you can tweek later)
Note: Be careful with search and replace you don't want to change a waypoint number.

Helpful Hint: Set your aircraft to do a low fly-by of the carrier at mission start. This will let you watch the planes land on the deck.                   Put yourself back after you are happy with the placement and nobody is crashing into the side of the ship or each other.

Testing: The only way to test is with CSF2. So it takes more work to do it, but it's worth it.

The static kate is just the MS model with fixed landing gear turned back in an AI only plane.

So you can have any aircraft on the deck they just have to have fixed landing gear.

Another way to find the cord. is to place an oil barrel in the spots that you want aircraft and then transfer the cord. to the aircraft along with speed and alt.
Then delete the oil barrels. (Pen32win's idea)

Hope this Helps,

Thanks for your help everyone. I sure hope this works. I tried that mission before, but It wouldn't work in the game for some reason......
What I was really hoping for is the carriers themselves, with aircraft already on them. Like the Kaga, or the Soryu, or the Zuikaku..............
And not just Japs, but would also like to see the Lexington, Yorktown, and Hornet. All with planes on the decks. Something I can use in the mission builder that would make this mision, and other missions like it.
Of corse, with these ships, you couldn't land on them, just attack them.
I'll give these ideas a try, and thanks for your help...

Well, I gave them a try, with no success.
"Flat Tops with Birds" dosn't help, because when I try
to fly this mission, (From the game, or from the MB) I get this error message "FILE IS CORRUPTED OR IS NOT FORMATED PROPERLY"
And, I guess I don't have enough experance with the MB as I thought I did.
So I don't realy understand the triggers, and events, or how to use them is a game.
So, if anyone has any more ideas on my problem, I would really love to make this mission work, and would love to share this with anyone who is interested.

Thanks again, I hope to fix this real soon

Hi Buzz_1,

Try reinstalling the flattop missions, you should not be getting that error if corectly installed.
