Kids found me a copy of FS Repaint at Xmas, on special at Harvey Norman for A$29.
When I try to open some non default aircraft (both CFS2 and FS2004) I get the following error message:
"FS Repaint cannot read or display this aircraft"
I also find that it will not open some of the aircraft nor display their texture files, and gives no error message.
I'm assuming it can only read square texture files ie 512 x 512, 1024 x 1024 etc and any "non std" ie 1024 x 512 can't be recognised????
Anyone confirm/ comment???

I have the demo version of FSRepaint and as far as I am aware it will open all files that run in FS2004. I have a Posky 757-200 with non DXT textures and it opens that ok

I don't think CFS/ FS supports Non-Standard texture bitmaps ???

I copied this from FSDS2 Help.
Quote:
Acceptable resolution is any power of 2 up to 1024. The textures can be rectangular as long as both the horizontal and vertical sizes are a power of 2, ie: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024
For example, 32 x 256 is a supported size.
If these odd-sized textures work in FSDS2 & also FS I assume that this would not be a problem for FS Repaint. I also assume it can read all standard FS texture formats.
I just installed the trial version of FS Repaint to check it out. It seems my poor old system is nowhere near powerful enough to run it properly but I also found some aircraft it can't read. Perhaps Felix can elaborate.

Might be my video drivers!?
I changed the display to 24bit hi colour, usually I run on 16bit ( FSDS and VASS seem to need this setting on my machine!) to check out some scenery in CFS2, and guess what.... the same aircraft with the 512 x 1024 textures only showed the square textures!!!!
When I changed back to 16bit colour they came good??
FSRepaint will only run on my machine under 24bit colour, so looks like I need to either update my machine (NO, NO, NO.....) or find another work around.

I never change my desktop resolution. I could be wrong but I don't think it affects the display settings in FS.
