I followed the directions for using this site's image hosting service (correct size, format. etc.) but no joy. They don't even tell you how to set an image to accompany one's signature (or does that have to be done every time you post?) My first attempt at creating an avatar resulted in the host server giving me some other image that had the same name; I tried changing the name of my jpeg... and I got a blank image. I even tried including ALL of the address info ("My Documents\My Pictures", etc.). Anybody have time to give a simviation noob a quick walk-thru?

I already tried it using these instructions, but thanx. I'll have another crack at it later.

The path is case-sensitive. You must use the exact file name. Try changing the file extension of your avatar image in your profile to .JPG instead of .jpg like this

LOL!! hagar, yer killin me- that's my avatar!! Yeah, I tried what you suggested... maybe the image wasn't ready yet (no doubt they are screened)? I'll try again when
I get home from work... thanx a million. If I may push my luck: How exactly do i place a (larger) image with my signature? The tutorial does not really make it clear; it tells you how to post an image in the main body of the message, but can't I have an image that is posted automatically w/my sig? (profile edit page is no help on this either).

Not sure if you understand what I mean. The case must be exactly right. Some image editors save images with .JPG file extensions instead of the usual .jpg for some reason. This is the most common problem people have posting images. The file name in your avatar path is tbirdhead.jpg. It should work if you change the file extension to .JPG like this tbirdhead.JPG

For your sig use the [img] brackets. It's exactly the same as for posting in the body of the post.

Third time's a charm, I guess... after third double-check of case for filename extension, it worked. As far as the sig goes, if I understand you correctly, I have to click on the "add image" icon, change the text in the brackets to "sig", then type in the URL of the image I want to include? That's as close as I can get to understanding this, between your (generous and helpful) posts and the site's Help section, but that can't be right- surely there's a one-click option for a signature (text and image)??!!

Right, we're getting there. You have the right idea. Assuming the image you uploaded is named myimage.jpg the full path in your sig will look like this.
{img]http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/myimage.jpg[/img]
I changed one of the brackets to make it show up in the post. Otherwise it would look like this
which is what makes this so difficult to explain on the forum.
Make sure there's no spaces in between the brackets.

OK, I tried that... but does the signature get added automatically when
I post, does one of the available link icons enable that, or do I actually have to create my signature as part of the message body every time I post?
previewing this message does not show me my sig...

rottydaddy. I see you're still having problems. Please note what I said in my earlier reply.

I changed the first bracket from a square like this [ to this { so it showed up on the forum. I assume you copied it from my reply. If you change it to a square bracket it should work.
PS. This is assuming you uploaded the image in the correct size & format & used the exact file name in the path. I can't find it or I would post it here. ???

Either you didn't upload the image or there's something wrong with file name. Try it for yourself.

Well, there's still something wrong with the image. Try it.

That proves it's not there.
You also forgot to put the / in the 2nd bracket as Craig pointed out.
