I just thought too, I changed somthing somewhere before that slowed my boot time right down to about those speeds.  I cant for the life of me remember what it was though.  I think it was in my BIOS but just changing it back sorted it.

my promise controller needs a 1-drive RAID0 to be able to get one drive to work in XP. all my 3 HDs are separate RAID0 arryas as far as that controller is concerned

GOT IT!

Well I got it working today...first off my duuumas self didint read the seagate manual fully and missed the part about running the HD setup utill Roll Eyes Tongue...so I ran that and it still did not work on the SATA 1 port so I tried it on the RAID port, so I created an array, installed the drivers and no go so im lookin in the BIOS and I find the Parallel Ports Disabled, Enable it set it to 378 save it and we are in business. So here is what I had to do, run the Seagate Setup Utility, Have the SATA drive on RAID 0 Port, Create an RAID array, install RAID drivers in windows set up, then windows finnaly detected it then I formated, made the Promise Raid drivers disk installed that and walla all done, took me long enugh    what a simple and stupid soulution I shoulda had worked out the first day!! Roll Eyes Tongue Embarrassed Lips Sealed Kiss Grin

LOL that all sounds complicated.  Mine was a hell of a lot easier to setup than that. Glad you got it sorted though.
