Does anyone have experience here with FS-autostart or End-It-All??  I have FS-Autostart and tried configing it yesterday but got a batch error message. I went to the authors website and found it was a bug and he already had a fix which I downloaded in seconds. Haven't had a chance to retry it yet.  Does it really make a performance difference cutting out all the un-necessaries it seems able to cut out?

Lookslike you have a relatively new system.  The PCI-E on your board tells me that.  I heard in some ways though that agp interfaces are still a little faster.  I'm at the point of wondering how much is enough though.  Mine isn't too shabby.  Athlon 2800xp clocked to 2.3 ghz with a brand new 6600GT and yet my system is still prone to bogging with complex aircraft loaded at large busy airports.   I am starting to wonder if only 768 meg of ram is a weak link remaining.  I've noticed that many of these 30 framers plus with maxed out settings are also running more than a gig of ram supporting their fast chips and high end cards.  Perhaps OS as a lot to do with it to. I would imagine XP pro runs more background services and process's than XP home simply because its taylored for a multi-user business environment.  I'm not networked though and only my wife and I use it so there's a lot of security and networked oriented services idling on it that I don't need.  Then, there is one other suspect issue I've had from the time I bought the system.  I orinally had ordered a 40 gig 7200 rpm hard drive but the shop was willing to through in for no extra a second hand 60 gig maxtor but I suspect its only a 5400 rpm hard drive.  Also, it had been in another system do I have no idea how smudged up with some elses stuff the data area of the disk is.  I will definatley post my concerns about this in hardware though.

I use both. FSAutoStart for well FS9 and End-it-all for everything else.
I love FSAutostart becasue it turns everything back on after your finished without having to reboot.
I got a major gain in performance when compared to not using either one.
I'm going to try and see if I can utilize FSAutostart for my other game programs, just becasue of the fact that you don't need to reboot.
Has anyone tried this yet?

What do you mean pci-e is slower than AGP??

PCI-E 16x has twice the bandwidth of AGP 8x with 4 gig per sec full duplextransfer rates.

PCI-e is faster than AGP, but right now you won't notice it because games have only just started to move on from AGP 4x kind of bandwidths.

Here's a tip fellas. Now FSAuto Start can be used for ANY game or program you have. I use it to start all my games now. Create a new profile, direct it to the games .exe file and VOILA!

ON games that have a configuration screen that runs before the actual game, no problem. Create your profile for that game, direct it to the setup.exe and then check the box or select, "This is NOT the Main APP". It then asks you to browse to the games actual .exe file. That way, it doesn't restart the processes once the setup part of your game is done running.

You can get rid of the End It All and the other programs as FSAuto Start will do it all.

I have used both End It All and FSAutoStart, and I prefer the latter.

I, too, have it configured to use on multiple games....it's a great little tool to have.  A must have for all simmers!

I guess I should tryout fs-autostart. It might give me an fps boost.

Personally, I just use msconfig and disable useless services at startup.

I like it so much, because of its ease of use and stability and function that I sent off a donation Wink

Now that I find that you can use it for other programs also I will be getting more use from it, great program! One of the best utilities I have found yet!

FS-autostart used here for all of my games too.

I do notice some games dont like it though.  If I use it to run COD it plays worse than if I dont.

If any services give an error just not them down and make it so that FS-autostart doesn't try to stop them, that way you wont get the error.

I can't download realworld weather using FSAuto Start. I don't know which services I need for that but obviously I have me shut off.  Anyone know which ones are used for weather download?

I can't remember off hand what service it is but must be something that deals with your internet connection.

I think it is the "Telephony service" that must be left running.
While going through the services you should see a information box on the right side in which will give you a description of most services and a recomendation to leave running or stop.
