Today,
John Lennon(October 9, 1940 - December 8, 1980)
was shot in the back 6 times in front of his wife, Yoko Ono, by a crazed fan. Sad  Sad

Every report I've read mentions Lennon being shot 4 times, not 6. Here's how the news was reported by the BBC soon after the event. http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/december/8/newsid_2536000/25363...
I also read that Mark Chapman's latest parole application was refused.

One has to wonder about the motive & who was behind it and if Chapman actually fired those shots. John Lennon was not popular in some quarters & had many potential enemies. There are plenty of conspiracy theories, some more plausible than others. I doubt the truth will ever be known.

It's easy to see that Mark Chapman is safer in prison than he would be free. There are no doubt a lot of crazed fans who would love to teach him a lesson.

Woodlouse2002 PITA and BAR!!!!!!!!&&&&Our Sovereign Lord the King chargeth and commandeth all persons, being assembled, immediately to disperse themselves, and peaceably to depart to their habitations, or to their lawful business, upon the pains contained in the Act made in the first year of King George the First for preventing tumults and riotous assemblies.
