never had to register my copy of windows XP either. Maybe its only if you buy it as an upgrade ??? My copy came with the computer, but then again even when i had to reinstall it there wasnt anything asking to register.

Hmmm. I need to confirm this. I've always been under the impression that what it says about registration on that website is true. I've also seen questions posted in various forums from people having problems reinstalling the blasted thing.

I always assumed that if you purchased a new PC with the OS or any other software installed it would be already registered. I can't see complete newbies being able to cope with that & what happens if they never go online? That's another thing that puzzles me about all this.
PS. I've been wondering for a while now. What's this topic doing in the Hardware forum anyway. ???

Hi Eno. If you have WinXP installed you obviously know more about it than me. If what you say is true what's all this about then? Talk about confusing. ???

I suspect they're all on commission although I doubt that Mr. Gates pays much.

If this is the future - stop the world, I wanna get off...........!
Not sure about Dan but I'm beginning to think I'm getting too old for this lark. I'm quite happy in my little time capsule. I'll leave all this messin' around to you younger fellers. Life's far too complicated for me as it is.

Well, it wasn't you I was thinking of. I'm surprised it's been left here for several days now without one of the other loonies moving it.
They're usually quick enough to move other threads for no apparent reason at all. ???

Ah, now that would depend on what the pole is made of & how long it was to start with.
Sorry, I couldn't resist that.
