Just a thought for all of you scenery designers who are more prolific than me!  Wink Heres an Aerial picture of my local airport:

...

Thats Pembrey, Wales UK. I got it from Multimap.com's aerial picture thing. Worth it? What do you think.

Lovely.

But pretty useless I'm afraid without precise detail on coordinates and distances/dimensions

I've found that MultiMap's aerial shots are great for getting a feel for the airfield, and giving one an idea of what's there - they also show up crop marks really well if you're looking at historic airfields (http://www.multimap.com/map/photo.cgi?&X=494763&Y=391007&width=700&height=410&sc... will show the end of the old runway at RAF Hemswell, with the old sites for the Thor missiles clearly visible).

I think its useful, I use screen shots from the VFR package (which uses the same souce as multi-map use)

I used it as a background in FSSC.  You can get the runway size etc from either FS itself or check this against other sources.  Then scale (probably around 5m/pixel)and place and test.  You could also let the background image form FSSC visible to set how it compares to the FS default (do no exclude default scenery (Just a bit of trial an error)

I am not sure if the VFR package covers Wales but if you want to do more than one airfield in your area it may be worth it.

Try to get hold of an out of date BINA (British Isles Noth Atlantic), or a minor aerodromes publication from somewhere - I'm trying to think where. Its an RAF publication (the red book) which will carry all those kind of details.

Come to think of it I could get hold of one quite easily, in fact I probably have one Roll Eyes ...
