Only a wild guess but it could be RAF Coltishall.

Correct, RAF Coltishall it is  8)

The airfield fence where i was crouched (anyone in norfolk last tuesday will know it was very windy!!) is just feet from the end of the runway, and i was just next to that, so its quite a sight (and sound) as they come over to land only a few tens of feet up!

Indeed. Thats the way the RAF is going unfortunately, and despite its historic significance its a very old fashioned base...

Nice aeroplane though (being a little biased myself...)

Do you fly Jags, or is it just an aircraft you like?

Just one I like. Had a trip in the back of XX139 a few years back. Unfortunately it'll be gone before I can get anywhere near one. In fact I believe 16 Sqn aren't performing the conversion course anymore...
