Problems with Addons again. (Read 302 times)

I need someoneīs help again.

I should leave my hands from FS2004 downloads, but there are so good ones, and after i learned toget around with MDLC i thought i could use the most Addons.

But now first i downloaded an F4U-1D Corsair: Filename: fdg2_fg1d_setup.zip         I got it from Sim-Outhouse I think.
I installed it with the installer, and loaded the Sim. Than when selecting the Aircraft, it was invisible,  but that should be handled by MDLC, so i tried it. Fired up FS2002 again, but nothing, it was invisible again, I loaded up the flight, and there I could see the 2D Panel and some Exhaust effects from outside, I could even fly it as well, but it didnīt show up.

The next one was A B-29:
Filename: B29B_903.zip        Aviable at Sim Outhouse, too.
Ok It was all the same, it didnīt show up after  usement of MDLC as well, but the really interesting thing was, that I could see the plane, if I switched zoom the most far away. But there some parts of the Airplane didnīt appear, If I opened the Bomb Bay, i could see through the plane, directly till the sky, and one Flaperon wasnīt there, but it was there from another Angle.

If i tried the same with the Corsair, i couldnīt see anything.

Isnīt that funny ?

It would be great if someone could tell me something about that.

Hi Mr. Mugel. MDLC is a great little utility but it's not guaranteed to work on every aircraft. If these aircraft load & run OK it could be the texture format. Your problem might be easily fixed by opening the main textures in DXTBmp & saving out in a different format. I can't promise this will do it but it's worth a try.

Iīll give it a try, i thought something like that before, too, because the B-29 shows on a distance, what might be because a lower Detail Texture is loaded, which may work.

What I forgot, MDLC gave a runtime Error, at the end of the progress. Dunno if this is important, as I think iīve seen it before, too.

Try saving the textures in DXT1 Opaque format. Back them up first so you can try other formats if it doesn't work.

If you're getting a runtime error I suspect the conversion was halted for some reason. This could be the cause of the problem.

PS. You could try another MDLC option like the automatic FS9/CFS2 conversion (run FS9_to_CFS2.bat). CFS2 models are compatible with FS2002.
