Hello Simmers all,
I have a couple of planes, (Swordfish and Me309 so far) that when selected in the Freeflight menu, (the one where the planes spin on the turntable), manage to freeze the PC completely. I have to switch it off manually and fire up again.
Any Simmer out there had this?  Any clues to a fix gratefully accepted.

I've had this happen too not just in CFS2.  I haven't figured it out yet but if I do I'll let you know.

I've never had this problem... my major problem would have to be choppy play, but I won't get into that, lol

maybe someone should try posting at sim-outhouse or netwings...

I'm totally confused by the matter  ???

~S~

The only time I've encountered crashes to desktop is when I'v been messing with panel files and have used inappropriate gauges or panel bitmaps with too high a colour depth.

If you are having problems with the select aircraft stage, however, panel issues shouldn't be a problem. The crashes I've experienced occur when the aircraft is actually loading in the game.

Perhaps it is the Models of the aircraft in question that are causing the difficulty - could these be corrupted or incompatible in some way? I'm afraid I know little about this aspect of the technology

Hi Graham. It would help to know where these aircraft are posted so I could check them out. If they're older designs the first thing I would suggest is the known conflict with some earlier models & WinXP mentioned on my CFS2 FAQ page. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2faq.htm

The only Me 309 I can find was created in FSDS2 so would not have this bug. I think the GC Swordfish was created in Gmax so it won't be affected either.

It would be interesting to know your system specs. I've come across cases in the past where certain 3rd party aircraft would not work on some PCs & we never did find the answer. This happened with one of my own designs in the beta test stage which is one of the main reasons I never finished it.

Hello again simmers,
I have rumbled the problem and it's all down to me. (Where have I heard that before)! The planes were not 'locking up' in the real sense of the word, just taking forever as the PC, (a bit of an oldie) was trying to find weapons associated with them. I had just moved them to a fresh install as I'm setting up seperate theatres to keep the aircraft D/Ls within limits and I had not moved the scenedb folder over from the main install. So no toys to load!
May I apologise for the cock-up and thank you one and all for you concern, help and input. It is great to know you have the backing of friends when you're up against it on your todd. I am going to open another thread now but trust me that one's for real!?..  Many thanks again. Graham.
